02What is it?

What is conversion focused web design?

Conversion focused web design is building a website around the moment a visitor decides to get in touch: clear about what you do and where, easy to contact from a phone, and tracked so you know what works.

A good-looking site can still lose enquiries if visitors can’t tell what you do, can’t tap your number or give up halfway through a long form. Nobody has published reliable figures for how much each change adds, so we build in what government and W3C form guidance recommends, then measure. Doing it yourself? Our guide to turning website visitors into enquiries takes you through ten fixes in order.

The guidance

GOV.UK’s form guidance: “Do not use placeholder text in place of a label, or for hints or examples”.
  • Under WCAG 2.2, tap targets should be at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels.
  • Google says Core Web Vitals are used by its ranking systems, but good scores don’t guarantee top rankings.
  • Google Analytics can count a visit to your thank-you page as a key event, without code.

03What we do

Six jobs that turn visitors into calls and enquiries.

  • A clear first screen

Your service, your town and who you help in the first lines of the page, with one obvious next step, such as “Call for a quote”, visible without scrolling and repeated on every page.

  • Tap to call

Your number at the top of every page as a tap-to-call link, so on a phone it opens the dialler with the number ready. Opening hours sit beside it, including bank holiday exceptions.

  • Short forms with clear labels

Only the boxes you really need, with visible labels above them rather than placeholder text. Errors say how to fix the problem, and the confirmation tells people what happens next and when.

  • Trust signals that are real

Genuine reviews with a link to the full set on Google, your real address and phone number, and photos of your own team and work. Only the badges of schemes you actually belong to.

  • Fast on phones

Built mobile-first and checked on real phones, with buttons big enough to tap and Google’s Core Web Vitals checked before launch. Speed is part of every new site and redesign, not a separate add-on.

  • Enquiries counted from day one

Form enquiries counted in Google Analytics through a thank-you page, taps on your number counted too, and Search Console and your Business Profile linked, so you can see which pages and searches bring enquiries.

04What we won’t do

No shortcuts. No tricks to squeeze out enquiries.

Some popular conversion tactics mislead customers or lock people out, and a few break UK consumer rules such as the CMA’s fake reviews guidance. Here’s what we leave out of every build.

  • Cherry-picked or fake reviews Showing only the glowing reviews when they don’t reflect what customers say overall can break UK consumer law.
  • Badges you haven’t earned Displaying a trust mark without authorisation is banned outright under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.
  • Pop-ups over your number or form Google warns that intrusive pop-ups can frustrate visitors and erode their trust in your website.
  • Placeholders instead of labels Placeholder text vanishes when people start typing, and not all screen readers read it out.
  • Puzzle CAPTCHAs on contact forms A W3C working group note says they exclude many disabled people, so we start with a hidden honeypot field instead.
  • Promised uplifts There are no reliable published figures for how much each change adds, so we won’t promise you a number.

05Questions

Conversion focused web design, straight answers.

What local business owners ask us about turning website visitors into calls and enquiries.

What is conversion focused web design?

Conversion focused web design is building a website around the moment a visitor decides to get in touch. In practice that means saying what you do and where near the top, one clear next step on every page, a phone number you can tap, short forms with clear labels, genuine trust signals, a site that works well on a phone, and tracking so you can see which pages bring calls and enquiries.

Do you build conversion focused websites for businesses in Worcester?

Yes. Get Found is a web design and local SEO agency based at 39 Foregate St, Worcester, with a second office in Stockport, and we build websites for businesses across the UK. Conversion focused design is part of our web design service. Every project starts with a free visibility audit, and there are no long contracts.

Is this a separate service from your normal web design?

No. Every website we build is planned around calls and enquiries, with tap-to-call numbers, short forms and a next step on every page. This page explains what that involves, so you know what to expect and what to ask any web designer for.

Can you get more enquiries from my existing website?

It depends on what we find. Every project starts with a free visibility audit, and we quote after it. Sometimes a redesign of the current site is the right answer and sometimes a new build is. We don’t sell speed fixes as a standalone service: speed is part of every new site and redesign we do.

How many more enquiries will I get?

Nobody can honestly promise a number. There are no reliable published figures for how much a shorter form, a tap-to-call button or a faster page adds for a typical local business. What we can do is build in the basics that official guidance supports and set up tracking from launch, so you can see what actually changes.

Will a faster website rank higher on Google?

Not on its own. Google says Core Web Vitals are used by its ranking systems, but that good scores don’t guarantee your pages will rank at the top, and that it always tries to show the most relevant content even if the page experience is poor. We check Core Web Vitals before launch because a slow, awkward site is harder for customers to use on a phone.

How will I know where my enquiries come from?

We set up Google Analytics to count form enquiries, usually through a thank-you page, and to count taps on your phone number. A tap isn’t always a call, and visitors who say no to cookies may not be counted, so we also suggest asking every enquirer how they found you and keeping a simple log. Our blog has a step-by-step guide if you want to set this up yourself.

Who owns the website?

You do. Clients own their domain name and their website, and there are no long contracts.
