02Ledbury visibility checklist

Could a Ledbury customer find and choose you?

The checks we run first for Ledbury businesses. Each one is something Google, Maps or an AI tool uses to decide who to show, and each gap is something we can fix.

  1. Three counties on one postcode

HR8 runs from Ledbury into Gloucestershire villages such as Dymock and Redmarley D’Abitot and Worcestershire ones such as Castlemorton. If you work in those places, your service areas and website should name them, not just “Herefordshire”.

  2. A pin customers can actually walk to

In a town of narrow lanes and arcades, a Maps pin a street out sends people the wrong way. We check your pin, your entrance and the directions Google gives from the town centre car parks and the station on The Homend.

  3. Market days and festival fortnight

The Charter Market runs on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and the Poetry Festival fills the town for ten days each summer. Set special hours ahead of time so nobody arrives to a closed door.

  4. Searches that start in Hereford, Malvern or Gloucester

Plenty of Ledbury custom comes from people searching in a bigger place nearby. If you go to customers, hide your address and set service areas instead; Google allows areas within about two hours’ drive.

  5. Reviews that describe the job

Genuine Google reviews that talk about the job, the room or the meal carry more weight than a row of stars. We help you ask at the right moment and reply to each one, and we never buy or filter them.

  6. Matching details across the listings

Name, phone number, address and opening hours should read the same on Google, Bing Places, Apple Maps and the Herefordshire visitor and trade directories Ledbury customers use.

  7. What AI tools suggest for Ledbury

We put real questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and Google’s AI, such as somewhere to stay near Eastnor or a joiner in Ledbury, run them more than once and note which businesses get named.

Ledbury is one of Herefordshire’s five market towns, with around 9,600 residents according to Herefordshire Council,[1] in a county of 187,034 people at the 2021 Census.[2] The Town Plan describes it as a centre for some 20 Herefordshire parishes and for villages over the borders in Gloucestershire and Worcestershire,[5] and the postcodes bear that out: the HR8 district takes in parishes in the Forest of Dean and Malvern Hills districts as well as Herefordshire.[12] The eastern edge of the parish lies within the Malvern Hills protected landscape.[5] The town is older than most: its Market Place dates from 1122, and the timber-framed Market House on its pillars was begun in 1617.[6] Almost a third of people in the Ledbury area are 65 or over, against fewer than one in five across England,[3] which shapes how many customers search and what they expect to find.

Ledbury makes and moves things as well as selling them. The Town Plan names drinks production (particularly cider), light engineering and distribution as the main local industries apart from agriculture,[5] and the latest employment figures agree: manufacturing accounts for 17.5% of jobs in the Ledbury area, and wholesale and transport and storage 12.5% each, all well above the English averages.[4] The centre is a conservation area known for its independent shops,[5] with a Charter Market twice a week.[8] Visitors come for the 16th-century Painted Room, one of the best examples of Elizabethan wall painting yet found,[7] for the Ledbury Poetry Festival, which calls itself the biggest and joint-oldest poetry festival in the UK,[10] and for Eastnor Castle just outside the town.[11] The town council is also planning a memorial to John Masefield, the Poet Laureate born in Ledbury in 1878.[9]

Places customers search around

  • The Market House
  • Church Lane
  • The Painted Room (Ledbury Town Council offices)
  • St Michael and All Angels Church
  • The Master’s House
  • Ledbury Charter Market
  • Ledbury Poetry Festival
  • Eastnor Castle
  • Ledbury station, The Homend
  • Food, drink and light engineering

Cider and drinks producers, engineering firms and other manufacturers in an area where manufacturing is two and a half times its national share of jobs.[4][5] Their buyers, suppliers and future staff look them up online before they call.

  • Distribution and haulage

Wholesale and transport firms account for a quarter of jobs in the Ledbury area between them,[4] and they compete for contracts and drivers with searches that reach well beyond HR8.

  • Independent shops, cafés and places to stay

Businesses in the conservation-area centre,[5] busy on market days[8] and through the Poetry Festival,[10] that depend on visitors finding them on Maps and choosing them over the next result.

  • Trades, care and home services

Builders, electricians, gardeners, carers and others serving a town where almost a third of residents are 65 or over,[3] plus the villages on three sides of the county boundary.

05How we work

Five steps. No long contracts.

  1. Check where you stand

A free visibility audit: where you appear on Google, in the Maps results and in the main AI tools for the searches Ledbury customers make, and who’s getting those enquiries instead.

  2. Fix the foundations

Your Google Business Profile, Bing Places listing and directory details made complete and identical, with the right categories and the areas you really cover across HR postcodes.

  3. Make your website say it plainly

Clear pages for each service and the towns you serve, written for Ledbury customers rather than copied from one town to the next, so Google and AI tools can see what you do and where.

  4. Earn reviews and local mentions

A simple routine for asking every customer for a review, and genuine mentions from local organisations, suppliers and press. Never bought, never fake.

  5. Track what changes

Calls, form enquiries and Maps actions tracked from the start, plus regular checks of what AI tools say about your trade in your town, reported as a trend rather than one screenshot.

08Questions

SEO in Ledbury, straight answers.

What Ledbury business owners ask us before getting started.

Do you do SEO for businesses in Ledbury?

Yes. Get Found is based at 39 Foregate St, Worcester, with a second office in Stockport, and works with Ledbury businesses on local SEO, AI SEO and web design. Most of the work happens by phone, email and video, so being in Ledbury is no barrier. We start with a free visibility audit, and there are no long contracts.

Do you have an office in Ledbury?

No, we don’t have an office in Ledbury. Our nearest office is at 39 Foregate St in Worcester, and the other is in Stockport. Ledbury clients work with us remotely, and they’re welcome to meet us in Worcester if that suits them.

What does an SEO agency do for a Ledbury business?

For a Ledbury business, an SEO agency works out which searches bring in paying customers and then improves what decides whether you show up for them: your website, your Google Business Profile, your reviews and your listings elsewhere. In a small market town that usually means covering the nearby villages and larger towns your customers search from, not just Ledbury itself. Get Found’s free visibility audit shows where you appear today on Google, Maps and the main AI tools.

How do I get my Ledbury business into the Google Maps results?

Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and popularity, and you can’t ask or pay for a better local ranking. For a Ledbury business that means a verified Business Profile with the right main category, a pin on the right lane, accurate hours including market days, a steady flow of genuine reviews and the same details on every listing. If customers never visit your premises, Google lets you hide the address and show service areas instead.

Can you help my Ledbury business show up in ChatGPT and Google’s AI answers?

We can improve your chances. When someone asks an AI tool for a café, a B&B or a tradesperson in Ledbury, it tends to name businesses with clear websites, consistent listings and good reviews, so we check what ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Perplexity and Google’s AI say and work on the gaps. No one can promise an AI tool will mention you, and our free visibility audit includes an AI check.

Do you build websites for Ledbury businesses?

Yes. We design fast, search-ready websites for Ledbury businesses, with tap-to-call numbers, simple enquiry forms and pages for your services and the villages you cover. If your existing site already ranks for useful searches, we keep what’s working when we rebuild it. You own the domain and the website outright.

How much does SEO cost for a Ledbury business?

It depends on what your Ledbury business needs and how many competitors are chasing the same customers, so we don’t sell fixed packages or publish prices. We quote after a free visibility audit, once we know what needs doing. There are no long contracts.

Our customers are in Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. Can a Ledbury business show up in all three?

Often, yes. Ledbury’s HR8 postcode already covers villages in the Forest of Dean and Malvern Hills districts, and if customers don’t come to you, Google lets you list service areas within about two hours’ drive, such as Malvern, Newent or Hereford. Distance from the searcher still counts, so no one can guarantee you’ll appear everywhere, but naming the places you serve on your profile and website gives a Ledbury business its best chance.

Can local SEO help a Ledbury shop, café or B&B that relies on visitors?

Yes. Many people visiting Ledbury for the Market House, the Poetry Festival or Eastnor Castle decide where to eat, stay and shop from the Maps results or an AI answer. Correct special hours, recent photos, a clear website and genuine reviews all make a Ledbury hospitality or retail business easier to pick.

Do you work with Ledbury manufacturers and distribution firms?

Yes. Manufacturing, wholesale and transport make up a large share of jobs around Ledbury, and those firms mostly win work from other businesses rather than passing trade. For them we focus on clear service, capability and recruitment pages and on how the company appears when buyers and job seekers search Google or ask AI tools about suppliers near Ledbury.

Rather talk it through? You’ll speak to the local team, not a call centre.
